hospice house Ultimate Memorial RideIt's one HHUMR of a ride!
Join us June 2-4, 2023 for the final HHUMR ride. After seven years we will be saying farewell. It has been a privilege to support riders and we are looking forward to one last ride together. We hope you can join us!

The ride

The ride begins in beautiful Sisters, Oregon. Take in the Three Sisters, Three Finger Jack, Mt. Jefferson and more as you ride past past Dee Wright Observatory and head to the summit of Scenic McKenzie Hwy 242, which is closed to vehicle traffic! The volcanic mountain moonscape at the summit is like nothing you'll ever see from the seat of your bike. Enjoy the winding path down the west side of the mountains on a highway open only to bikes this time of year. Yes, you read that correctly, no cars to get in the way of our riding. Merge onto Hwy. 126 for five miles then take Aufderheide Memorial Drive (a designated West Cascades Scenic Byway) and follow the South Fork of the pristine McKenzie River to our first campsite at Cougar Crossing Campground (this part of the ride will change this year, see intro. above). A memorable climb up Box Canyon on Day 2 will drop us into the Willamette River basin where we will ride alongside the beautiful North Fork of the Middle Fork of the Willamette River and camp just outside of Oakridge at Shangra La. Day 3, proves to be the longest and hardest day of the ride as you climb up and over the Calapooya Mountains south of Oakridge down to Bryce Creek and ending on the flat, smooth Row River Trail (a rails-to-trails delight) alongside Dorena Lake in Cottage Grove.
All you need to do is ride your bike and enjoy the amazing scenery. We'll carry all your gear and refuel your body along the way. This fully supported 3 day ride includes great home cooked meals, Ninkasi beer, and raises funds for our local non-profit hospice organization, Cascade Hospice. $250 per rider. |
